2 Eastern Philosophies That Will Help You Seek Inner-Peace & Happiness

Using Meditation To Seek Inner-Peace & Fulfillment

Eastern Philosophy MeditationIf you’re new to meditating then it’s difficult to understand the true benefits associated with it.

It’s very much a process that’s unique to each person although the same principles apply.

Essentially meditation promotes a healthy state of being that influences positive feelings such peace, tranquility, fulfillment and even happiness.

It’s a great way relieve yourself of the daily stresses and worries of modern-day living. When your life gets hectic and you feel overwhelmed there’s no better way to unwind than meditating for a little while.

Even just 15 minutes a day of meditation can have a profound impact on both your mental and physical well-being. It helps to lower your stress levels and bring balance into your life.

The following are a three simple steps you can apply to get started with meditation:

1. Allow 15 minutes each day where you find a nice relaxing atmosphere to practice your meditation. Set a routine and discipline yourself, consistency is key.

2. Make sure you’re comfortable and well seated to avoid getting restlessness and agitated during your meditation session.

* If you’re new to meditating then try sitting in an arm-chair or something comfortable with your feet flat on the ground.

* You could also assume the legs crossed pose sitting on the floor and use a prop such as a wall to support your back.

3. Focus on your breathing, take deep breathes filling and clearing your diaphragm. There’s no need to hyper ventilate just nice natural slow and deep breathes.

4. Focus your attention on a singular object giving it your full concentration. A tip I learned was to light a candle in a dimly lit room and focus your sight on the flame of that candle.

* Give the flame or whatever object you choose to use your undivided attention. Channel all your focus into that object.

* The “singular object” is a great technique that can really help you get over the initial phase of clearing your mind.

Remember the end goal of meditation is to clear your mind of any baggage and enter a state of thoughtlessness. If you’re unable to achieve this in your first few attempts then don’t threat! This is perfectly natural and as with most things meditation takes practice.

It’s the process that counts not necessarily the end result!

If you do find your concentration is broken then revert back to focusing on your breathing and giving your full attention to a singular object. This meditation technique alone will help you maintain a steady flow of concentration and improve your meditation session.

Applying Karma To Enrich Your Life

Eastern Philosophy - KarmaHave you ever done something and someone said “that’s bad Karma” or “that’s good Karma“? No doubt you have but what is Karma exactly?

Karma stems from Buddhist philosophy and basically states that everything you receive is a consequence of the things you do. This is very diverse but basically Karma states treat others and life how you yourself would want to be treated and how you want your life to be.

A bit like Yin and Yang, Karma represents two equal sides of an equation being both good and bad! Basically what goes around comes around, commit a good deed and you’ll be rewarded with an equal good deed. Commit a bad deed and you’ll be met with an equal bad deed.

To be honest you don’t have to know the ins and outs of Karma to understand that treating others with compassion and displaying gratitude will bring positivity into your life. At the same time treating others cruelly will have a negative affect on your own life.

Therefore it’s well worth baring the basic concept of Karma in mind and applying it to your everyday life. Show compassion and gratitude towards others is the main philosophy to abide by when applying Karma.

Acknowledge your actions and make small gestures to help others needier than yourself. There are many things we can do to apply this simple yet empowering philosophy.

For instance, when was the last time you spared a homeless person some change?

Many people don’t even acknowledge the person huddled up in a blanket on a cold street floor. To consumed by their own needs and want. Allowing yourself to think differently and put the needs of others before your own is both empowering and gratifying.

Those are just two examples of Eastern Philosophies that can enrich your life. There are also natural healing processes associated with Eastern traditions such as Chakra healing or Reiki which Western civilization have yet to fully realize the true benefits.

Keep an open mind to Eastern philosophy, walking the path to enlightenment is a personal journey and an enjoyable one. It all starts with adjusting the way you perceive your life and that of others. It can help you feel more at peace and have a deeper understanding of the important things in life that don’t include material possessions.
